St Annes residents are celebrating after the campaign by County Councillor Steve Rigby, backed by Fylde MP Andrew Snowden, to get Links Gate in St Annes repaired, has finally paid off.
The much complained about road, near Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, has been listed in Lancashire County Council’s resurfacing Capital Programme for 2026/27 with almost £134,000 earmarked to resurface the highway
Councillor Steve Rigby who represents St Annes South commented,
‘This is good news for local residents in St Annes, the road is desperately in need of repairs and it’s certainly one of the worst roads in our area.. We’ve also secured funds for other roads including Clifton Drive South, St Annes Road West but I will keep on banging the drum at County Hall for us to get our fair share of funding for roads from County Hall. ‘
MP for Fylde Andrew Snowden added.
‘I’m very happy to hear that our campaign has paid off but the important thing is to make sure that the work on this road is carried out well in advance of the AIG Women’s Open which will be held at Royal Lytham & St Annes in July. Hopefully common sense will prevail and they will plan the work to be carried out as soon as possible to prevent any possible disruption."
