Kirkham Juniors Football Club, Kirkham Town Council, and local MP Andrew Snowden are working together to restore the William Segar Hodgson Playing Fields in Kirkham. The pitches need to receive essential summer maintenance to make them safe, playable, and ready for the 2026–27 season.
These improvements are vital to ensure the club can continue to host all its teams and provide opportunities for young players across the town. Without this work, the club would not be able to accommodate all its teams next season, making this a once-in-a-generation chance to secure the future of youth football in Kirkham.
Jemma Hall, Director of Kirkham Juniors FC, said:
"This is a really important step for the club and the local community. The pitches are used by dozens of teams, and if we don’t carry out these works over the summer, we simply won’t have the capacity to run all our sessions safely next season. Having the support of the council and Andrew Snowden MP means we can move forward with confidence and get the ground ready for our players."
Andrew Snowden MP said:
"Kirkham Juniors is at the heart of our community. Restoring the pitches will allow more children and young people to play football, stay active, and develop important life skills. This partnership between the club, the council, and local supporters ensures these facilities are sustainable and ready for the future."
Councillor Adam Brierley of Kirkham Town Council added:
"We are proud to support Kirkham Juniors FC. This project is a great example of the town, the club, and our local MP coming together to invest in facilities that benefit young people, families, and the wider community. It shows what can be achieved when we work together."
The project is being funded through a combination of community fundraising, support from local businesses, and engagement with governing bodies. The club is encouraging local residents, businesses, and supporters to get involved to help make the pitches safe and playable.
