Fylde MP Andrew Snowden has met with Royal Mail managers after receiving concerns from residents about missed and delayed postal deliveries across Kirkham, Wesham, Newton, Warton and Freckleton.

Residents contacted Andrew, describing letters arriving weeks late, post not being delivered for several days at a time, and large batches of mail turning up all at once. To get answers, Andrew visited the Preston West Delivery Office in Kirkham to meet local Royal Mail managers and press for improvements.

Following the meeting, Andrew said:

"I've had a huge number of emails from people telling me exactly the same thing, no post for days, important letters arriving weeks late, and then everything being delivered in one go. That's a real concern.  People rely on Royal Mail to deliver information for hospital appointments, financial documents, legal paperwork and everyday correspondence. They shouldn't be left wondering whether their post is ever going to arrive.

"We have some brilliant local posties across our area who work really hard to get the post out on-time but something somewhere has gone wrong. That’s why I wanted to hear directly from managers at Royal Mail what they're doing to put things right. It was helpful to be able to have a frank discussion about the current situation and I'm pleased to hear that changes are planned from August which Royal Mail believes will improve the service.

Kirkham Town Councillor Adam Brierley, who has also been contacted by residents frustrated with the service, welcomed the meeting.

Cllr Adam Brierley said:

"I know that this is a huge issue in Kirkham, I’ve gone weeks without receiving any mail and I know it’s not just my street, it’s been all of us that live here who have been affected.  With the price of stamps and postage at an all time high, we rightly expect a reliable postal service. I'm pleased Andrew has taken these concerns directly to Royal Mail. We all want to see these promised improvements delivered and a dependable service restored.”

Andrew has asked Royal Mail to keep him updated as the planned operational changes are introduced over the coming weeks and says he will continue to monitor the situation closely. He is also encouraging residents to continue reporting any problems to his office so that any ongoing issues can be raised directly with Royal Mail
