Andrew Snowden, Member of Parliament for Fylde, has raised serious concerns about the impact of the Labour government’s economic policies on local businesses and families.
Since Rachel Reeves became Chancellor just nine months ago, 240 businesses have closed in Fylde, with 3,400 closures across Lancashire in the same period. In addition, 1,500 people in Fylde are now claiming out-of-work benefits – the highest figure seen in years.
Mr Snowden said:
"This Labour government has created a £50 billion black hole through mishandling the economy and pushing through disastrous tax decisions. These choices are killing growth, putting livelihoods at risk, and leaving many people and businesses fearful about the future."
He added:
"Local shop owners, business leaders, and families are telling me every day that they are worried about rising taxes and what the upcoming budget will mean for them. People in Fylde work hard, and they deserve a government that backs them, not one that risks jobs and investment with reckless decisions."
Mr Snowden is encouraging residents and businesses across Fylde to share their views ahead of the Chancellor’s budget.
"I want to hear from you – whether you run a business, are concerned about family finances, or have ideas about what should be prioritised in the budget. I will continue to be your voice in Parliament and fight for Fylde."
