Andrew Snowden, MP for Fylde, has officially become a Patron of Just Good Friends, the award-winning local charity dedicated to tackling loneliness and bringing people together through friendship, activities, and community spirit. Andrew met with members of the charity last week at their regular Friday event at Fairhaven Lake, where he was warmly welcomed by founder Bev Sykes and dozens of members enjoying an afternoon of chat, laughter, and companionship.
Just Good Friends, based in St Annes, runs a packed programme of weekly social gatherings, entertainment, games, fitness walks, and meals out, all designed to make sure no one in our community ever feels isolated. From Monday drama groups and Tuesday music afternoons to Friday fitness walks around Fairhaven Lake, the charity’s calendar is bursting with opportunities for people of all ages to make new friends and stay connected.
Andrew Snowden MP said:
“I’m absolutely delighted to become a Patron of Just Good Friends. I’ve seen first-hand the incredible work Bev and the whole team do to bring people together, lift spirits, and build lasting friendships. Loneliness can affect anyone, and this charity has created a warm, welcoming community where people feel they belong. As Fylde’s MP, I want to do all I can to support Just Good Friends and champion the importance of social connection across our area.”
Bev Sykes, founder of Just Good Friends, said:
“We’re thrilled to welcome Andrew as a Patron. His support means the world to us, and it’s wonderful to have someone who understands how vital it is to keep people connected and happy. We work hard to change lives and change loneliness to happiness. But we are also big problem solvers, we’re open to anyone, irrespective of age, disability, mental health condition and we’re here to help."
Andrew’s patronage comes at an exciting time for Just Good Friends, with recent events like their Hi-De-Hi fundraiser raising over £600 for the charity, a new Christmas single launch planned, and ambitious dreams of one day having their own café hub to serve as a permanent home for friendship and community.
