I am strongly opposed to merging Fylde and Wyre with Blackpool and possibly Preston. This merger would put our well-managed councils at risk and could see our hard-earned reserves used to cover debts and priorities elsewhere.
Fylde and Wyre councils have strong finances, with £60 million in reserves set aside for the future.
Blackpool council, by contrast, is half a billion in debt and struggling to manage its finances. Whilst Councillors in Preston seem to be more interested in political issues thousands of miles away rather than here in Lancashire
